Course Contents Entry Requirements
 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of trade calculations and units for mechanical engineering trades Demonstrate knowledge of basic mechanics for mechanical engineering trades Demonstrate knowledge of fasteners used in mechanical engineering Demonstrate knowledge of safety on engineering worksites Shift loads in engineering installation, maintenance, and fabrication work Draw and interpret engineering sketches under supervision Construct engineering plane geometric shapes under supervision Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering metals Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering materials Select, use, and care for simple measuring devices used in engineering Select, use, and care for engineering dimensional measuring equipment Select, use, and care for engineering marking-out equipment
  • nassemble mechanical components under supervision Demonstrate basic engineering workshop skills under close supervision Develop a simple product using engineering materials Perform basic mechanical engineering machining operations under supervision Perform basic fabrication operations under supervision Select, use and care for, engineering hand tools Select, use and maintain portable hand held engineering power tools Demonstrate and apply knowledge of safe welding procedures under supervision Provide first aid Participate in groups and/or teams to gather ideas and information Read texts for practical purposes
 
  • Minimum 16 years old Form III
  • Experience acceptable to MITD OR Have an equivalent qualification acceptable to the MITD.
