Course Contents Entry Requirements
 
  • Knowledge of energy generation, distribution and consumption within the society
  • Knowledge of the concepts of energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate change
  • Identify the different energy impacts a product or system can have through its useful life
  • Calculate the impact that energy systems have on generating greenhouse gases and understand their impact on climate change
  • Identify the impact of seasonal variations on generating capacity
  • Carry out solar energy site assessments using standardized data collection methods and make recommendations about suitable generating technologies
  • Create preliminary system designs for common solar energy systems using site specific information and historical energy consumption records
  • Develop RETScreen energy models to determine energy production and GHG emissions reductions for proposed solar energy systems
  • Understand the latest installation methods and technologies
  • Apply standards, codes and manufacturers’ instructions, industry best practices and building science concepts
  • Using the appropriate materials and methods and select, use and maintain tools required for the proper installation of solar PV systems
  • Apply the latest construction and building technologies.
