  • Demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices in the apparel or textile industry.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of clothing materials.
  • Perform hand stitches.
  • Thread and operate a lockstitch sewing machine.
  • Thread and operate an overlock sewing machine.
  • Prepare pattern for marker making.
  • Lay up fabrics by hand.
  • Cut single ply material by shears.
  • Make a single size marker for plain fabric by hand under supervision.
  • Lay markers and explain cutting method.
  • Assemble a child dress.
  • Sew binding at neckline and armholes.
  • Assemble a skirt.
  • Sew collars on garments.
  • Sew set-in sleeves in garments.
  • Perform pressing and fusing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of stitches and seams.
  • Perform seaming and finishing operations.
  • Sew zips in garments.
  • Sew pockets in garments.
  • Sew facing at neckline and armholes.
  • Assemble a casual blouse.
  • Perform hand embroidery
  • Prepare and operate a domestic embroidery machine.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sewing room quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of IT.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of arithmetic and logic.
  • Identify the implications of oral communications techniques.
  • Read texts for practical purposes
  • Associated Studies: 1.Communicate effectively through written and verbal modes. 2.Perform basic mathematical operations related to the course. 3.Work ethics. 4.Safety and health requirements. 5.Entrepreneurship. 6.Information Technology. 7.Environmental Studies.
  • Minimum 16 years old Form III.
  • Experience acceptable to MITD OR Have an equivalent qualification acceptable to the MITD.
